Gift date and receipt date
Updated
The form has two dates in Gift Information. Both are required.
The two dates
- Gift Date: the day the donor gave the gift. There is no default, so you choose it.
- Receipt Date: the day the receipt is issued. It starts as today's date on your device. You can change it.
On the PDF, the gift date appears as Date and the receipt date appears as Issued.
How to fill them in
- Click Gift Date and pick the day the gift was received.
- Leave Receipt Date as today, or pick another day if the receipt is being issued on a different date.
- Generate the receipt.
Dates print as year-month-day, for example 2026-03-15.
Common questions
Can the two dates be different? Yes. A gift made on one day is often receipted on a later day.
Which date does the free daily receipt use? Neither. The free daily receipt is counted by the day you generate the receipt, not by the dates on it. See Free tier.
I picked the wrong date. If you haven't generated yet, change it and generate. If you already issued the receipt, a correction is the way to fix it. See Correct a receipt.
If something goes wrong
Both dates must be real calendar dates. If the page or the server says a date is invalid, pick it again from the date picker.
In Bulk, gift dates are typed or pasted, not picked. Write them as YYYY-MM-DD. If a pasted date such as 03/04/2026 could be read two ways, the page doesn't guess: it asks whether the day or the month comes first. See Paste rows for bulk receipts.
